Overview

Avionics Buddy is a local network companion app for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It is designed from the ground up to protect your privacy: no data leaves your local network, no account is required, and no personal information is collected or sold.

What data Avionics Buddy collects

Avionics Buddy does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app only processes:

• Flight telemetry data — received live from Avionics Buddy Bridge running on your local network. This data is displayed on screen and is never uploaded anywhere.
• Airport and runway preferences — stored locally on your device using standard on-device storage. Never transmitted.
• Bridge pairing data — the IP address and port of your Bridge instance, stored locally on your device for reconnection convenience. Never transmitted to any server.

Local network only

All communication between Avionics Buddy (on your iPhone or iPad) and Avionics Buddy Bridge (on your Windows PC) happens entirely over your local Wi-Fi network via WebSocket. No data is routed through the developer's or any third-party servers.

No user account required

Avionics Buddy does not require any sign-up, login, Apple ID association, or email address. There is no user account system. You only need an Apple ID to download the app from the App Store.

No cloud telemetry

Flight data — including position, speed, altitude, heading, and all other MSFS variables — is never transmitted to the internet. It travels only from your PC (via SimConnect and the Bridge) to your device (via local WebSocket).

App analytics and crash reporting

The Avionics Buddy app does not currently use any third-party analytics SDK, crash reporter, or telemetry framework. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated and users will be informed via an app update.

Website analytics

The Avionics Buddy website uses Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies in the website banner. This helps us understand general website interest, such as which pages are useful and which regions visitors are coming from, so we can improve the website, create better setup content, and plan more Microsoft Flight Simulator landing videos for interested regions.

We do not use advertising cookies, sell analytics data, or use website analytics to collect flight telemetry from the app. You can decline analytics cookies in the banner and continue using the website normally.

Third-party data

Airport and runway data used in the app may be sourced from OurAirports (an open data project). This data is used locally within the app and is not transmitted to OurAirports or any other party. Avionics Buddy is not affiliated with OurAirports.

Airport and runway data may be incomplete or inaccurate. It is provided for simulation entertainment purposes only.

Avionics Control Buddy 11 waiting list

The Avionics Control Buddy 11 first-batch waiting list form collects the email address you provide, along with optional details you choose to share (country, intended use case, experience level, quantity interest, and any message). This information is used only to notify you about first-batch availability and to understand demand for the product. Submission requires your explicit consent via the form's checkbox.

Waiting list submissions are stored securely in our database and are never sold or shared with third parties. To request deletion of your waiting list information, contact us at the email address below.

Children's privacy

Avionics Buddy does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. As the app collects no personal data from any user, no special measures are required.

Data retention

Because no personal data is collected, there is no data to retain or delete. All on-device preferences can be cleared by deleting the app from your device.

Your rights

Because Avionics Buddy does not collect or store any personal data on any server, there is no personal data to access, correct, export, or delete. If you have questions, contact us at the address below.

Simulation-only disclaimer

Avionics Buddy is designed exclusively for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator as an entertainment application. It is not certified for, intended for, or suitable for real-world navigation, flight training, flight planning, or any operational aviation purpose. Do not use Avionics Buddy as a substitute for certified avionics, official charts, or professional flight training.

Microsoft Flight Simulator, SimConnect, and related names, logos, and marks are trademarks or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. Asobo Studio and Working Title are separate entities. Avionics Buddy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft, Asobo Studio, Working Title, or any aircraft manufacturer referenced within the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the "last updated" date at the top of the page will change. Significant changes will be communicated via an app update.
